“There is none holy like the Lord; there is none besides you; there is no rock like our God.”
-1 Samuel 2:2
Hello, I’m Jess!
I never thought I would be an author. I certainly never saw myself publishing a children’s series—a Christian one, at that! But God is faithful to take the plans we have made and turn them into something better… (something almost always unexpected) something for HIS glory.
Growing up in a Christian home introduced me to the Bible. Being irresistibly drawn and regenerated by The Holy Spirit at the age of 33 cemented its truth within me and sparked a hunger to know more about exactly WHO God is!
I found myself buying book after book of biblically-solid Reformed writers and theologians like RC Sproul, John Calvin, Stephen Charnock, John Owens, and so many more. I LOVED their dedication to glorify God and the awe with which they examined Him through His Word.
I wanted to find books for my kids that would begin to develop the little theologians within them. My searches would often fall short. So, I decided to write my own!
I am so blessed to be used by God in this way—to place some very big (and sometimes difficult) truths into little hands.
It is my deepest hope that this series will encourage, instruct, and induce wonder for our glorious God.
I BELIEVE
There is ONE God (Isaiah 43:10, Isaiah 44:6, 1 Timothy 2:5, James 2:19) who created all things and sustains and rules the universe with unshared and complete sovereignty (Psalm 115:3, Daniel 4:35, Isaiah 46:10). He exists as three unique persons: The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19, 1 Peter 1:2).
There is ONE way to God the Father, through His Son, Jesus Christ (John 14:6) who lowered Himself to take on the form of man (Philippians 2:7). Being truly God and truly man, Jesus bore the full wrath of God, on the cross (Isaiah 53:5, 10)—atoning completely for the sins of His people by taking the punishment we all justly deserve—having all been born sinful and under the curse through the fall of our first father, Adam (2 Corinthians 5:21, 1 John 4:10). Through the gift of belief in Christ’s perfect life, death, and resurrection, we are made righteous in God’s sight, and able to one day enter into glory, where we will be given new and sin-free bodies to dwell in the presence of the Lamb eternally, in Heaven (Philippians 3:20-21, Colossians 3:4). The Son intercedes on our behalf, sitting at the right hand of God, The Father (Hebrews 7:25). He will return one day to judge the wicked, and gather His people to Himself (2 Timothy 4:1, Matthew 24:31).
The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Godhead. He regenerates all whom the Father has chosen to draw and permanently indwells them (Ephesians 1:13)–changing their fallen and sinful nature to a new one that is both willing and ABLE to please God through a life of faith and service (Romans 5:5). The Spirit sanctifies the people of God and reveals the truth of God’s infallible and perfect Word. He convicts us of sin, gives strength, guidance, wisdom, and the words and prayers to say when all we can mutter is groaning (John 14:26, Romans 8:26).
I believe the bible is the very Word of God: infallible, unchanging, and perfectly complete in its power to equip all of God’s people to live according to His will (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
It is by GRACE we have been saved (Ephesians 2:8-9), drawn (John 6:44), regenerated (Ephesians 2:4-5), given faith (1 Peter 1:5, Hebrews 12:2), and made able to honor God in this life (Hebrews 11:6, Galatians 2:2) as we await the life that is to come.
